Double page spread interview

 When did you start singing?

I always used to sing around the house, in the shower (she giggles), anywhere really but my singing career didn't start till I was 16, that was when I starred as Sandy in a Grease musical, after that I was signed to a label but didn't release any music till I was 18.

You're now a house artist how did this love of house come about?

Well it happened last year, I wanted to take a year out and just relax because the last 3 years I haven't had a real holiday and was constantly working, so I went to a few festivals and then went on a long holiday in Ibiza that's where I met James (Smith). We had met at a festival and talked for a bit but that was it until Ibiza. We met up and I went to one of his concerts that's when asked me to come on stage and sing.

Do you regret starting as a pop artist?

No never as that was my first passion. Yes maybe I regret some of the hairstyles I had and the clothing I wore, doesn't everyone but not the music. My very first song I produced got into the top 40 charts although it was at number 38 it was my first song ever produced and it still got in and I was so proud of myself, just because I've changed genres and grown doesn't mean I regret being a pop artist.

Do you feel like your fans agree with your changes to house?

Hopefully they embrace the change but I have grown up and changed, I'm not a little girl anymore, I have found my maturity. As I have matured my fans matured and if they don't agree with my change that's fine everyone has different genres of music they ;like and don't, yet most of my fans have liked the change and they like the new me and my new music, which I'm so glad of. Me and my music have matured.

What was your most memorable moment of your career?

Most memorable moment. That's a tough one. I would have to say when I was holiday and James asked me to come on stage and sing on his tracks that was amazing I felt quite free when I was doing that as it was such an amazing experience.

Now that you've changed will you do collaboration?

I want to do more collabs definitely. I'd love to collab with Calvin Harris for sure and to be able to collab with David Guetta and Avicii that would be amazing, but I would want to do more collabs with my boyfriend James (Smith).

Do you miss your family and friends when your doing concerts and gigs?

Yes and no, that sounds awful doesn't it (she laughs) but I have a family in the form of my production team but I do miss my mum and dad. Nothing is better than a big cuddle from my mum and dad.
These are the questions on my double page spread.

Feedback:
"I really like the masthead as it links really well to the genre of House music. I also really like the black, white and red theme, as it creates a lot of colour triangles and ultimately draws you into the main image of your male artist. Your main article has a clear link to the main image and looks really good. The social media sites and website idea is really interesting as it links to the social group of most teenagers to adults now a days. Your male artist using direct address is another intriguing feature as you feel as a reader that he is looking directly at you and addressing you. Maybe you could change the colour of the word ‘favourite’ in your strapline so that you can emphasise that it is a loved magazine."

"I like the how the picture looks like he is holding the quote as if he is presenting it. The background colour makes everything bold, and it creates synergy with the contents page and double page spread"

After having feedback I changed my strapline to having the word 'favourite' and  changed the colour to white which contrast against the black background which is bold and striking to the reader.

double page spread improvements and final double page spread

After doing improvements on my double page spread I have still tried to create synergy by having the colour purple as a background colour for the interview columns, the colour of purple and the yellow colour of the writing is a good contrast.
I have made the main image of the front cover in front of the columns of as the main image is bold and this draws the readers eye to the main image.
As the publishing print is expensive for magazines so I decided that instead of all of the background is purple as this would be too expensive I would only have columns highlighted purple as this is cheaper for the publishing company.

double page spread example; mixmag

After looking more at this house double page spread from mixmag it shows that the interview is in defined columns and clearly set out.#
At the bottom of the double page spread it shows the artist shown his album and when the release date is, I liked the idea and the way it looks on the page, I will do this on my double page spread as it advertises the artists album.
I will try and create synergy in my double page spread to be able to connect with the front page and contents page.

Double page spread

This is my current double page spread, I have used a dark colour for the background to show and reflect the moodiness I wanted to come through I highlighted the questions to show what is the questions and what are the answers, I have moved my main image to the right side and as this is one of the problem I addressed from my focus group.
